Power Loss Minimization using Optimal Power Flow based on Firefly Algorithm

Conventional methods are commonly used to solve optimal power flow problems in system networks. However, conventional not suitable for solving large and non-linear as they influenced by initialization values more likely be trapped local optimum. Hence, heuristic optimization such Firefly Algorithm have been widely implemented overcome the limitations of methods. These often use random strategy that can provide better solutions avoid being optimum while achieving global In this study, load analysis was performed using method Newton-Raphson technique calculate real loss. Next, optimize control variables minimizing loss transmission system. Generator bus voltage magnitudes, transformer tap settings generator output active were taken optimized. The effectiveness proposed then tested on IEEE 14-bus 30-bus MATLAB software. simulated results analyzed compared with Particle Swarm Optimization’s based consistency execution time. Implementation has successfully produced minimum faster computational time Optimization. For system, is 6.6222 MW calculation 18.2372 seconds. Therefore, application a reliable technique, which respect determined effectively.
